Summary

I independently designed, structured, and built a high-fidelity spatial emulation prototype in three-ish hours.

File orgnization does not exist on VisionOS. This project explored how Apple’s native system, Finder, could evolve for the growing adoption of spatial computing while maintaining the familiarity and logic of macOS. The task was to conceptualize what Finder might look and feel like in mixed reality, balancing innovation with usability and continuity for a seamless experience.

Over my focused sprint, I used Figma and Apple’s VisionOS Human Interface Guidelines to rapidly prototype a fully spatial Finder experience. The goal was to visualize how file organization, navigation, and multitasking could translate into 3D space using gaze, gesture, and depth.

The interface introduces floating windows with dynamic depth, breadcrumb-based navigation, and contextual menus that appear on selection. Users can organize files in grid, list, and preview modes, grab and reposition content in space, and manage multitasking through spatial hierarchy.

The outcome demonstrates a well grounded evolution of Finder for VisionOS that maintains user familiarity while introducing intuitive, spatially aware interaction to transition users easily into familiar flows across devices.
