Summary

Email is one of the most used systems in the world, but its interactions have barely evolved. We’ve accepted friction, delay, and invisible behaviors as normal.

I redesigned Gmail for a challenege focusing on the microinteractions that shape the day-to-day experience of loading states, response feedback, and motion. I wanted to refine system behavior and communicate system states transparently and clearly to the user. I analyzed patterns across email clients, prototyped UI adjustments, and explored how subtle changes impact clarity, flow, and perception.

This was a 2-week deep dive into how culturally engrained systems can be improved through intention, not reinvention.
